Meet the founder of Wanna Play Theatre

Hi, my name is…

Carrie Loffree PhD, PLY (she/they)

I have been involved in theatre since elementary school, and I love unconventional shows that reimagine the roles of actors, playwrights and audience members. My passion for theatre led me to complete a PhD specializing in the creative processes behind experimental theatre.

I am fascinated by the ways the mind works as our master storyteller, and by who we are beyond our stories. I have a background in somatics, zen buddhism, mindfulness, and self-inquiry, and I bring these to my creative theatre play. I love guiding explorations of what happens when the mind meets the heart, and how the felt experience of having a human body runs through it all.

Wanna Play Theatre makes my heart sing! I would love to help it touch you in that way, too!

I enjoyed the experience! In the days following the workshop, I found myself revisiting the image of the boundary between the two worlds that we explored there. It felt good to know that I could tether myself to the real world as I visited the imaginal world. I loved the opportunity to dive in! I just went for it with the thought that I'm sure this is a welcome direction. I really appreciated Carrie joining me on the journey! I thought that her mirroring was spot on, and it helped me deepen more--that was really great!

I enjoyed the workshop very much. For me, it helped to concretize how I feel right now in relation to putting myself out there. Carrie's guiding genius popped out, offering me a teeter-totter analogy. Her playground seesaw imagery - glided us into an illuminating unfolding. My theme, 'balancing the tension of the opposites' that I'm meeting on my dharma-path, was met by Carrie's gentle ways. She dosed our easy flow with organic reflections, sparking my inner knowing to see what had been hidden in confusion's shadow, and resulting in my joyous clarity! The creative energy re-balance that I felt upon completion released an embodied elder wisdom that had been waiting to be reclaimed. Carrie's workshop empowered a regenerative reset, boosting my heart-led willingness to keep going, gently, devotedly showing up authentically exactly as I am.
