InsideOUT
Jan-June 2026 - Playgroup associated with Queer Centre & CVAG
InsideOUT was Wanna Play Theatre’s first playgroup. It was supported by the Queer Centre, with space to play offered by the CVAG. Originally InsideOUT was to be a 2-session beta project in January 2026, but it felt so good we kept playing until summer break!
Something beautiful these players taught me – How to commit fully to inclusivity, even and especially when life situations stretch personal capacity.
BeLOVED
February 2026 - Playgroup at The House of Now
On Valentine’s Day 2026, BeLOVED was Wanna Play Theatre’s first half-day playgroup open to all. The group had a real mix of players, with a 5-decade age span and players from Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox.
Something beautiful these players taught me – How coming together with the intention to play can bridge gaps and allow us to explore new creative territories.
FeelingALIVE
April-June 2026 - Playgroup at L'Arche
Wanna Play Theatre was invited to run a playgroup at L’Arche’s I-Belong Centre for players with developmental disabilities and their helpers. We called our group FeelingALIVE and we played together for 3 months in spring 2026, with plans to continue after summer break.
Something beautiful these players taught me – How the invitation to play can make us glow, bloom and sparkle, quite naturally resulting in celebrations of togetherness.
Talent Show
June 2026 - Talent Show
Dance is for All was an all-abilities talent show organized by the Triple Heat Dance Academy of Performing Arts and presented at Northgate Church in support of L’Arche Comox Valley in June 2026. Our FeelingALIVE playgroup from l’Arche took part in the show and we invited all the spectators to play with us. This was Wanna Play Theatre’s first on-stage activity.
Something beautiful this event taught me – How creation in a heart-centered community can amplify everyone’s joy and enthusiasm.
